About Arkdays
This website is based on the fictional world of Arkdays, a creation I've been working on for quite some time now. Everything written, unless specified otherwise, is written in the perspective of a character named "Shia," one of two main characters in the story. There's a few things that this site intends to accomplish.
Even without reading the book, the general idea of the story and its characters should become clear. But it will never be ideal; some information will spoil the story when read in the wrong order. This is an inevitable limitation when reading at your own choosing. I may upload a guide on intended reading order at some date when more content is finished.
The website acts both as a standalone and a source of extra content for the original book its based off.
The website should serve as a testament to my ability to differentiate character voice. Each passage written should eventually be identifiable as to which character "wrote" it.
Everything should be easily accessible on the website; finding characters or certain pages should not be difficult.
Content within the pages do have a reader discretion warning. I do not intend to put a warning on the content on main pages due to the nature of the book its based off (as the book makes it clear which type of tone it is, and therefore the content should be of no surprise to readers). If you are unfamiliar with the book, it should be known that these pages do talk about mature topics.
Now for in lore things. As a small cheat sheet for one's reading pleasure, presuming they haven't read Arkdays, this world is set in some far off fantasy place that doesn't actually exist. In this world, a disease known as Rueliedis runs rampant. It is a disease that has a 100% mortality rate, and as of late, there is no cure. While medicine exists to slow its progression, it is, in the end, inevitable that one will succumb to it. Its effects vary from person to person. Typically, however, the disease will crystalize ontop of the skin once it has progressed enough. This creates Ruelids, a crystal often mentioned within the story. Ruelids are incredibly sturdy minerals that are often used for city building and warfare, despite its ill effects on the body in large amounts. These crystals will often fall from the sky in cataclysmic events, but are also spread in various natural disasters. They are containers for the disease, more or less, and are often the symbol for said infection.
The disease will give whoever it infects unnatural powers, most of which are inexplicable to science. This has created an imbalanced world where strength through powers and weaponry is often favored over diplomacy, and it's not uncommon that cities switch from governmental body to governmental body due to overthrows of power. It's a turbulent, violent place that is all too familiar with bloodshed.
Despite this, some formal structures still exist. Arkdays focuses on a medical company named Augustia, which is the host of some of the world's finest medicine. Yet, despite what one may expect, Augustia is a relatively new company that has yet to solidify its name in common place, which means it often has to rely on itself without support from others. Because of this, they often have to do questionable tasks and act as a mercenary group both to raise money and protect itself against outsiders. It's a medical company by a stretch of the imagination, but nothing is truly as it seems within Arkdays.
This should be all one needs to view the website. Please enjoy.
