Freya
Augustia's night-owl who's rarely seen beyond the confines of her lab. By most means, one could consider her a tier above me and possibly even Kai in the research field. If only her narcolepsy didn't inhibit her studies as much.
Contract File 1
Freya, despite this world's god forbidden circumstances, is somehow uninfected by the disease. It's not as if she's immune to it, she's just somehow managed to avoid it all of her life. But she seems to have thrown away this gift and has spent her life devoting herself to finding some sort of cure. Originally, she was ostracized for it. There aren't any accomplished researchers I can think of that aren't affected, after all. Everyone at campus seemed to latch onto that lack of un-infected researchers and accuse Freya of shady things because of it, despite the fact that her intentions were clearly in the right place. But somehow her being unaffected by the disease meant that she was hiding something, or that she was working to worsen it instead of remove it. I don't know how she dealt with it. The idea of someone just stomping all over your ambitions simply because you don't "understand" their pain is absurd. We all lose something to the disease. Infected or not.
---Shia, head of Augustia.
Contract File 2
Freya's narcolepsy, seeing as she isn't infected, isn't caused by the disease or anything. Nonetheless, her EDS (narcolepsy) is as clear as day (pardon my rather insensitive use of a metaphor there). She's only ever really seen awake during the falling hours of the sun, and even then her appearances are rather sporadic. When I do see her out and about at these times, she's often unresponsive, and either sleep-walking or looking for something she's missing (which happens to be quite often, seeing as Sky will occasionally pull pranks on her to get her out of bed). And, even when researching, she can often be found asleep over her workstation when she's not doing something she defines as "exciting enough." Though with that often static face and anti-social attitude, it's tough to believe that she can even feel excited. But I've seen that spark lit before. It made even the softest smile form on her face, and that's a sight that I can pretty confidently say that only I have seen.
Her research is incredible. She has a brain that's capable of making links that even I'd never even think of, and her astute attention to detail seems to betray that common stereotype behind narcolepsy. It's really a shame she had to fight for respect the way she did, because her work was always top notch. It just took some effort from both me and Kai to get others to realize that.

Contract File 3
Freya has always been a staple of Augustia's R&D department. It would be hard to imagine an Augustia without her even, seeing as she tackles the research I've put on hold while away on duty. The only downside is that she doesn't follow the same note-taking process as I, so reading through her cryptic diagrams and charts can be a mental exercise comparable to the disease itself. And of course, my free time during the day can't be spent talking with her about it either, as she's usually deep in sleep at the time. Waking her up and having an even slightly interpretable conversation is impossible too. If one wishes to communicate with her, it has to be on her terms. And even when she's up and about, it's hard to tell if she wants to be approached or not. I wouldn't consider myself the most careful when it comes to picking up on social indicators, and it's made even harder by the fact that Freya has little to no social presence. Reading her face, her body language, hell, even her actual language can often be a fruitless endeavor that just leads to confusion. In the end, understanding Freya is next to impossible to the average person. Even after knowing her for many years, my knowledge over her as only slightly extended past the surface.
All that being said, we have the same goal: eradicating the world of this damned disease. My only concern is that, even with her help, Shia's unique case will always be a mystery. And I get that it's something we're both working on, but the lack of progress by both of us is frustrating. It helps a little taking solace in the fact that Freya's affection for Shia is seemingly unending, but even if her love for Shia is comparable to mine, it means nothing in the end. If neither of us can find a solution, both our hearts will be traced onto someone six feet under.
---Kai, head of Augustia.

The following audio log is available only through electronic means in [ERROR 406]. The audio's transcript logs are provided below.
Freya: I am uncertain if I will be able to pose a threat to you.
Kai: It doesn't have to be realistic. As long as my brain recognizes it as some sort of overwhelming danger signal, the Rueliedis should take control.
Freya: A knife will not threaten you forever. What after you become used to the stimuli?
Kai: Well watching you spin that knife around is already scaring me... I trust you'll find something creative should I begin not responding.
Freya: And you're certain this is the right path? Shia will be lonely.
Kai: That knife is awfully close.
Freya: Perhaps the knife feels like being that close.
Kai: ...
Kai: Six months is a small price to pay if it means saving Shia. But will you be able to keep your end of the bargain?
Freya: If you believe it is for the best, then yes. But... Shia is an emotional woman. Please remember that.
