Kai

Head and creator of Augustia. Without him, I doubt we'd even be here. Both his financial backing and passion was the push we needed to get where we are, and his devotion to the cause is the driving force behind Augustia. While I have no doubt we'd all be working to help the world for the better without Augustia, it is his creation that lets us do what we do today.

Contract File 1

Kai is without a doubt the most headstrong person I've encountered in life. It's rare to see a time where he doesn't take initiative, and even if it's not the push desired, he'll continue forward. It's rare to see someone able to do that; to be able to recognize their mistakes, reflect on them, and then immediately continue onward. In a time where we all are anxious about our next steps, it's relieving to have someone like that behind the scenes. That said, I know he's not immune to the same pressures you and I face. It wasn't very often, but Kai breaking down in college was a very difficult sight to see. When you see someone so strong crumble like that, you're guaranteed be unnerved. I didn't even know how to help him at the time. He seemed to be such a far off figure, yet when he suddenly was within my reach in such a human moment of anguish, I didn't know how to grab on. Perhaps that's the reason why he refuses to show me that side of him anymore. When he needed it most, I couldn't support him in the way he needed.

I'm willing to take blame on that. But Kai, who I'm sure is reading this, will continue to move forward. He probably forgot about it, even. That's just the kind of person he is. To see him relenting himself to the anxiety of the past is a rare sight, spare his immediate return after working on his medicinal prototype for six months, so I'm sure it hasn't even crossed his mind since he last broke down.

At least, that's what I'd like to tell myself. But deep down, I'm afraid to admit he's human. It's hard to come to terms with the fact that someone so strong can also be so weak. It makes you wonder if perfection is even worth striving for when those who are close to it aren't even that close at all.

Contract File 2

Kai faces numerous roadblocks in his life, all of which can be seen sort of like a draw bridge. At times, it allows his life to move swimmingly. His parents allow Augustia to run as it does, his strange affliction allows him to dedicate himself to his work like no other, and his strong attitude allows him to keep his eyes focused on the future. But, when those bridges can't be crossed, they serve to completely cut off any support he could normally provide. His family requires him to do certain things, forcing him away from Augustia for weeks at a time. His affliction makes him focus entirely on self perseveration when the disease senses danger around the host, often causing him to abandon his allies in times of need. And finally, his onward looking eyes can often impede his ability to reflect on himself when it matters most.

All that said, Kai is a powerful man. He has some of the world's strongest allies behind him, and the bonds he's created render himself near immune to complete failure. Even in his darkest moments, there is someone or something there for him. While luck is certainly a factor, he's built such a sturdy foundation off his own merit that I struggle to imagine a future where Kai will truly and utterly fail. Even though he's often far outcompeted strength wise, it's important to remember that he's surrounded by some of the strongest people in the world. And all that being said, I would easily put Kai above them. There is little end to his power on a purely human level.

Conract File 3

The high opinions everyone holds of my dear Kai are truly remarkable. It is through his self reflection and positive mindset that he was able to create such an image, and I think there should be no end to the pride he should take in it. All that being said, I know of the things he struggles with. He wrestles a lot of demons, ones he's afraid to admit. He's hesitant to go on assignments with contracts other than me, Ryan, or Sky due to that preservation switch being flipped at any time. Yet he feels that if he doesn't go out on assignments, he's letting the company and its subsequent contracts down. The other contracts' words really get to him in that sense. Many contracts outside of the Augustia originals are often rather brutal and upfront towards their feelings of him, due to Kai's often disappearances and apparent lack of Rueliedis power. Word also got around that Kai is extremely hesitant to release anyone from their job, which is quite true. So, it's not uncommon to see him in altercations with our fellow workers (typically verbal). Afterwards, Kai will usually push through the situation with the same smile and confident attitude he usually does. But when he's alone, those lingering feelings of doubt will continue to fester within him.

How Kai hasn't grown mad is rather impressive. He seems to do almost everything right, yet it is merely his poor hand in life that continues to hold him down. Had he been born differently, he surely would've lived a much better life. At least, that's what he told me one day. But it's hard to count your blessings when you can't differentiate a hinderance from an advantage. While it is true that his circumstances are rather cruel, they are also widely responsible for our current day success. I'm not trying to say that he has it good, nor are his circumstances actually positive, but Kai is able to wield them in such a way that they can often seem like positives rather than negatives. I think that's the most admirable thing about Kai. Even when weighed down, he will find a way to put himself on top. That is why I have unrelenting faith in him. Somedays, his actions hurt me. Sometimes he says the wrong words without realizing it. But those times are far outweighed by his kind and caring personality that I have the pleasure of receiving. If you're reading this Kai... I love you. Please don't lose sight of the future.
