Samantha

Kai's sister. For all intents and purposes, Kai is not allowed to look at these files (along with other file writing contracts). Highest authorization is required. Please contact Augustia for more details, and make certain to ask for Shia.

The following text is granted on the basis that you have received authentication from me. Tread carefully.

Contract File 1

There is an endless amount of information one could tell about Samantha. The things she's done, the words she's said, all of it could fill the database several times over. She's a well known figure, one that the press can't get enough of. By all means, Augustia's success and fortune is due to her and the rest of Kai's family. But there is absolutely no cause for us to become any closer than the several arms length we keep from her and the rest of the family. They're too powerful. Even the slightest mistake could cause Augustia to fail, and that's not a risk I'm willing to take. Kai's family is banned from making official contact with Augustia.

Samantha doesn't care.

Contract File 2

The following is a wire-tapped conversation between Samantha and an unknown person, presumed to be her therapist. Samantha is the only speaker. I have left speaker notes based on the actions believably taken during the conversation.

"He [Kai] left the household as soon as he entered college. He left me alone with them. I had no clue how to deal with them. They always looked angry, they always looked disappointed. So I hoped. I hoped that Kai would save me. That he would come back from college and welcome me with open arms as he always did. He was my everything in life. The scars cut, the bruises burned into my skin, all of it would seem to disappear when he'd wrap his arms around me. Nothing they would do would ever harm me in a way that he couldn't heal.

But he didn't come back. Not once. And I was left alone, spare my small dog at the time. When he "mysteriously" disappeared after biting father (she says with a spiteful tone) one day, it really was just me. So I cried every night. I wished for something that could make me understand them. I poured my soul into dreaming of a day where I could read people with a simple glance. I never wanted to make them angry again. But how could I do that without some sort of power? What could ever come close to breaking their stone faced façade?

I met a girl when I went to bro's company, Augustia. Rei, I believe her name was. She had a similar face as them. She always looked neutral, and she wouldn't hold back her aggressive remarks. So I beat her.

She cried.

It was very rare I had a winning moment like that.

They grew into me. Their bitter emotions. Their sick mental health. It was all passed down to me. Kai left me alone in a sea of toxins while he flew above the surface.

Who is he to blame me? I'm the victim of his abandonment."

Contract File 3

Kai's never been specific on how his family made their fortune. To be frank, I haven't wanted to ask either. It's rare to see such a positive and head-strong man such as Kai crumble at the mere mention of a name. It's a scar that even I can't touch.

Nonetheless, rumors get around. Most of them are baseless. I've seen little supporting evidence behind the drug running or mercenary hosting services they've been accused of providing. The most I can comprehend is that it involves, or at least it some point it did, human trafficking. In fact, Mercury herself may not realize it yet, but her predicament has been caused by Kai's family; or at least that's the story according to Samantha.

To have such vial people be the mother and father behind such a great guy as Kai is truly a cruel miracle. He doesn't deserve the things he went through. Hell, neither does Samantha. But their funds and public appearances are so necessary to Augustia's budget that it would be nigh impossible for us to operate without releasing more than half of our contracts and staff. We willingly accept help from terrible people because it's the most feasible way we can hope to save the world as well. It's disgusting. There's many things that can keep me awake at night, and Kai's family is the one that runs through my mind the most. Rest assured, whoever may read this, that we are nothing like them. Augustia is nothing like the other Argyle's. When we can break away, we will. Mark my words.

Contract File 4

The following is a wire-tapped conversation between Samantha and an unknown person, presumed to be her therapist. Samantha is the only speaker. I have left speaker notes based on the actions believably taken during the conversation.

"When I got my powers, they turned sour. They couldn't believe their daughter had succumbed to such a disease. Their distaste for me only grew. But it wasn't long before I gave them what they wanted. They received plenty of my help. I'm the reason they're the way they are.

See, Dr. Juler, I'm looking at you right now. I'm looking you dead in the eyes. You're looking at mine. They changed color, didn't they? Bright orange. They're a pretty bright orange now. And these eyes now know everything there is to know about you. Every memory you have now belongs to me. I can make you forget. I can make you remember. Your wife left you three years ago, isn't that right? Perhaps you couldn't satisfy her? Perhaps your cheating escapade with your other patients is the real reason she left? I wouldn't know. Not until I look her in the eyes.

Good. Stay frozen like that. You're easier to speak to when you don't talk back.

I hugged a Rueliedis crystal beneath my pillow every night for years after Kai left. I gave the world everything I had in return for something that could free me. And I got this. These wonderful orange eyes. Eyes that can see you.

What parent could hit a kid with such beautiful eyes? They couldn't. Not after they forgot about why they hated me. I removed those memories. Anything bad. Anything negative. Those were gone. But Kai?

I kept those.

Burn in hell, bitch."

Contract File 5

The following is a wire-tapped conversation between Samantha and an unknown person, presumed to be her therapist. I have left speaker notes based on the actions believably taken during the conversation.

"It's funny, Dr. Mike. Juler couldn't keep his composure around me. You think you're up for the challenge?"

(Mike) "I do believe I more qualified for the job, yes."

"That's what Juler said when he replaced Dave. And Dave for Rachel. Rachel for Quincy."

(For some reason, Mike does not retaliate or reassure. From what it seems, Samantha did something. She also speaks as if Mike knows about her previous conversations with the other [likely] therapists).

"Eventually, I began hating them. I got whatever I wanted. Whatever I asked for, they gave me. But you get tired of people when you know everything about them. With a mind like mine, everyone becomes predictable. Even you, Dr. Mike. You know nothing about me. I know nothing about you yet. But if I flashed my goldies, I could understand everything there is to know about you, and everything there ever will be to know about you. After all, you develop the ability to figure out how the world works after a while when you know as much as I do.

But Kai? My adorable older brother? He's immune. He's the only person I refuse to look at with this curse. I'm scared of what he thinks of me. I've learned enough from the girl of his to know that he's afraid of me. In the end, I think he got what he wanted. I'm afraid of him too.

I used to visit Augustia quite often. His arms were never as powerful as they once were. And Kai's the only person I feel anything for. So I distance myself. I only visit rarely now. Because every time I go, a piece of me that came with doesn't follow me back. A world without my affection for Kai is a world I don't want to live in. Despite my hate for him, I love him. He can burn in the nicest layer of hell. I'll hope I can be there with him. I'm sure the devil will be afraid to put me someplace without him."

Contract File 6

If it wasn't obvious through the previous files, Samantha is a sociopath. Not biologically or anything, according to Kai she is indeed very emotional and always has been, but when you know as much as Samantha does I'm sure one would quickly turn as cold as she did. She's essentially lived thousands of lives through the memories of other people. But what makes her situation worse yet is that she is incapable of forgetting.

Yet I will never forgive her. She goes out of her way to torment our contracts purely for her own amusement. Contracts who were making social progress quickly lost any sort of momentum they were building. Even Sky, objectively the contract with the purest life, faltered under Samantha's cruel eyes. No one is safe. That's not even mentioning her physical altercations with Rei.

As Samantha said herself, she hates Rei. In order to cope with her hatred, she got into a spat with her. For the record, Samantha has no combative powers. But the absolute verbal vitriol which came from her mouth was enough to decide the fight before it even took place. Then, when the two actually fought, Samantha demonstrated her extreme skill with a rapier. According to Kai and herself, she's been trained with it as part of the family's daily activities pressed upon the two. And, in order to relieve her frustration, Samantha dedicated herself to her blade like no other. When training situations were no longer enough, she forced people to fight her. She killed.

There's an unknowable amount of blood on Samantha's hands. Rei was merely another drop in a sea of violence. Thankfully, she stopped the fight before things went too out of control. But that piercing smile gazing down upon Rei's sobbing face will haunt me for the rest of my life. Samantha knows it, too. She knows everything about me, after all. She knows that I know about her.

When asked why she does the things she does, she couldn't give an answer. She's so far detached from reality that everyone is merely a pawn within her life. And as time goes on, she continues to view Kai as more and more of an opponent. She wasn't like this before she got her powers. Her and Kai were the closest siblings I had ever seen in college. But that rift between them is undeniable. And it's the only thing that she's unwilling to control.

Perhaps that's why she tries so hard to ruin our lives.

It should be noted that I have not barred Kai from these files. It is purely of his own volition that he is not allowed to view them. Please avoid the subject with him.
