Alyx

Alyx was sent with [Redacted] in accordance to our trade deal with Euripe R&D. We don't know much about her, nor do we know why she was sent with [Redacted] in the first place, as they rarely, if ever, interact. Regardless, it's clear that Euripe intended some sort of power-play in our deal, as Alyx is easily one of the best contracts we have for almost any occasion. More than that, she's comparably more sane than her crazed counter-part.

The following takes place in the second book, and is thus spoilers for what's to come. Read with caution.

--- The following is from [Redacted] after we inquired about Alyx.

"That crazy son'sa bitch mellowed out after they took her to the ward. Me an' her use to tear it up outside, but I haven't done anything wit' her since she got out. Lil' bitch probably thinks she's too good to hang out with her ol' bestie. I should pay 'er a visit one of these days.

You wan'ed to know about why she's here, right? Well... ion know. Told you I haven't seen 'er since the ward, right? Man, you shoulda seen 'er back in 'er prime. Back before I got the treatment, she'd take me in a fight any day. Was like fightin' a wolf as a toy dog back then. She had a loud-ass bark and an even scarier bite. Hit you wit' everything she could all the time. One sloppy mistake an' you were gone. I can say that she's the reason I'm so smart with my swords. Though I still was the big dog between us. She was a cute lil' thing under my hands an' my hands only. Like butter! Man she was cute. Was even better once she developed more. Once she started realizin' what a hottie I was, we were goin' at i-

Why you gonna ask if you gonna cut me short? You wanna go? Come to this side of the table and I'll show ya what's up-"

A note came along with Alyx. It didn't say much, other than the important fact that Alyx and [Redacted] must be separated at all times during their contract period. We were unsure of why at first, but it quickly became clear that something ran deeper than they initially let on. From what we can gather from [Redacted], it's likely an issue caused by a supposed ward Alyx was admitted into roughly three months ago. From our assumptions and small pieces gathered from the aforementioned lunatic, it seems as though the ward affected Alyx in an unexpected way. Most likely, she developed dissociative fugue.

It's a strange experience to watch. Alyx is very reserved, but she's more than willing to say her piece if you directly ask. She's fully aware of her actions and their consequences. But occasionally, she'll disappear. In her stead will be a different Alyx which has almost no pieces of their memory, and most importantly, no knowledge of [Redacted]. In many ways, I consider it a stem of Kai's disorder. Though, Kai will often ignore or deny the existence of others and their importance during his panicked state, while Alyx just completely forgets about it. The normal Alyx will usually return within a couple days, if not hours, but has occasionally distanced for about two weeks at a time.

There was some discussion about whether or not Alyx would actually be fit for combat because of this issue. However, it actually seemed to be largely beneficial to her mission deployments when the disorder took place. As long as you send a more social contract with her, Alyx is quick to bond with them in her memory-loss state, which makes her quite adept at joint operations. It also means that Alyx is near immune to divulging sensitive information, which has proven helpful when her past has caught up to her.

Of course, it's not a totally positive thing. If she's left alone on a mission and enters this trance-like state, there's a chance we won't see her again until it completely passes. Hell, it's already happened once before. It also means that she takes a hit in combative power. While much of her prowess is down to muscle memory, it is very difficult to get Alyx to realize her full power when she's dissociated. She's even thrown away her spear before when she couldn't figure out its use, which was a massive pain in the ass to locate after it traded hands with the enemy a couple times.

No one knows how Alyx got so absurdly proficient with her spear, even [Redacted]. Nonetheless, the fact remains true: Alyx is a monster. Though, that truth is slightly misleading. If Alyx were restricted to using just her hands with her spear, there are a few at Augustia who could top her with raw skill. But Alyx's power comes from her ability to wield the weapon with every part of her body.

Alyx is able to gravitate and stick her spear to any part of her body in a magnetic-like fashion, but at usually to a much greater effect. The only person able to tear the spear from her body during the sort of magnetism is Frynn, which is unsurprising I suppose. But, because of this power, Alyx is a more than formidable threat. If it's disadvantageous to swing the weapon with her arms, she'll find a way to strike with her legs. If her weapon is taken away from her, she can pull it back in a near instant's notice. It's practically a guaranteed kill when her spear's on the ground, because once she's cleverly lined everything up, she'll pull the spear back to her right through her usually unassuming target.

The power on its own is not that absurd. Of course, anything with weapon manipulation is bound to be helpful, but it's rarely ever a game-changer like other powers are. But with the incredible talent and skill that Alyx has, it's rare she won't find a way to block your strike or attack when you least expect it. Her magnetism is so strong that she can let go of her spear, have the weapon get struck, and it'll just barely move from the impact if Alyx magnetizes it back to her body, effectively allowing her to completely ignore recoil felt in a normal fight. That's likely why many would also consider her fighting flashy, as she'll seemingly throw around her weapon in surprising ways before using it in ways never before seen.

And, if that wasn't enough, her spear is a new prototype that Euripe R&D had been working on. The spear is able to completely dislodge into two separate weapons. In the middle of the device is a sort of screw-off hinge that keeps the weapon as one long spear. But by twisting the spear the two pieces in separate directions, your able to dislodge a thin spear that rests inside of the main weapon. In turn, you get one spear that's near the same length of the original weapon but with a smaller head, and the half the shell of the original weapon which has the wide, flared end in a pitchfork-like fashion (much like Rei's spear). While usually the dependent on the situation, Alyx typically uses the shorter flared end as an attachment to her left arm, and the longer thin spear end for her right leg.

All in all, Alyx is a spear user, a throwing weapon expert, and a brawler all mixed into one. As typical, it's the universality of her strengths that make her truly powerful.
