Lycan

Lycan, or as I like to call him in secret, Red's tamed-beast. He's typically rather arrogant and uncommunicative around others, but his mission success rate is one of the highest in Augustia when paired with Red. And, Red's also the only person to ever have a full conversation with him. They both showed up at the same time. Same story as Red: keep an eye on him.

Contract File 1

The following are medical records stored on his contract profile.

  • Literacy Rating: pre-elementary level.

  • Linguistic capabilities: late early-childhood.

  • Combat capabilities: average.

  • Mental Health (Stress recognition & coping) Very poor.

  • Mental processing (Puzzles): F

  • Mental processing (Combat Adaption): D-

  • Mental processing (Pattern Recognition): B

  • Eyesight (Color Spectrum): Blue-yellow colorblind.

  • Eyesight (Visual Acuity): A+

  • Eyesight (Distance): 20/10

Lycan receives a poor rating on many categories, which puts him in the special help division. He is currently receiving some education, though our efforts are often in vein do to his poor behavior. It should be noted that Lycan's eyes are an atypical trait of the infection, and he has received more defined vision both in light and in dark rooms. He can also discern movement better than the average person. However, rapid changes in his environment are very stressful, and it is recommended to put him in low intensity environments unless paired with Red. When paired with her, he is much less prone to stress and is much more capable of dealing with said stress.

Contract File 2

Lycan is probably the most odd contract we've brought into Augustia. Most contracts we have tend be literate, mild-mannered, or at the very least powerful. Lycan fits into none of these categories. He has no ability to read or write in any language, and any attempts often lead to him getting irritated and breaking the writing utensil. His inability to communicate as well as general attitude create a distaste of him for many, which perpetuates the dislike he has for them as well. And finally, his strength is rather average. The ability to create Ruelid claws from his hands do allow him to deal with a close range enemy fairly proficiently, but his claws are rather fragile compared to normal Ruelids, which makes them tend to shatter when trying to rip tough surfaces. He also lacks any sort of combat control over himself, meaning that he'll seek out targets at random despite commands from any higher authorities.

That said, he's not exactly brutal in a sense. He's violent and cruel at times, but he doesn't linger on bodies any longer than he needs to. So, at the very least, he seems to be able to understand when and when not to attack if the person is dead. A small step, but a step nonetheless.

Man, that sounded rather antagonistic. In truth, he's a decently helpful commodity to Augustia when paired with Red. While on his own he may have very likely been released some time ago, Red's involvement in the situation seemingly allows him to flourish in missions he's sent on. Seeing as she's the only one who has any sort of command over him, Lycan only goes on missions with Red. Paired together, the two have the highest mission success rate of any pairs in Augustia. While that is possibly due to the lower-risk nature of these missions, the amount they go on is both impressive and also proof that their success is by no fluke. These two are essentially the janitors of Augustia; they do the work that others typically don't wish to do. As such, I should really come to respect them more. But it can be hard, seeing as to how rowdy the two can get. If, for whatever reason, either Red or Lycan is transferred, it is highly advised to transfer them both. Red may shine wherever, but Lycan's success is entirely dependent on Red, and Red's mental health is seemingly improved by Lycan.

Contract File 3

The following are the complaints received by Ryan with issues derived from Lycan

[Ocean]: "Lycan was upset that I had been talking with Red in private for some minutes, and he threatened to hurt me if I did it again. I don't know what I did wrong though, because it was just about the mission we were on..."

[Nidia]: "That a-hole ripped through my sheet pan after Red told him that I didn't have any cookies for the night, which made her sad apparently. Like, seriously bro? Grow up. Quit being such a damn white night. It's not cool."

[Iora]: "He kicked over my cleaning cart and didn't apologize. I had to spend a lot of time mopping it back up..."

[Khale]: "He bumped into me when I was talking with Vykle in the halls, which made Vykle scared and got him to move elsewhere after Lycan glared at me for asking him to apologize. He didn't even say sorry in the end."

[Quinn]: "That brat wouldn't let me have my girl time with Red on our Red Light mission. How self-important does he think he is? What, are those claws gonna tear me apart? Oh boy, I'm so scared of those fragile little things. Maybe if he grew the balls to be apart from Red for more than five damn minutes, he'd have the time to think about how annoying he is. Be a dear and ask Frynn to put wolf-boy in his place, would you?"

Ryan stopped recording complaints after this. This is also the first known instance of the nick-name "wolf-boy."

Contract File 4

The following is camera footage and audio from one of the testing centers within Augustia.

[Emile] Lycan, would you please come up to the board and write your name?

Lycan stares forward for a moment before rising off his desk and slowly walking towards the whiteboard. He grabs the marker and brings his hand to the board with a hesitant hand, before slowly writing his name.

[Emile] Good, good. You're doing great. Ask me if you need help please.

He continues writing, before getting to the 'n' in his name. He struggles to remember what to write, before creating a vague middle ground between an 'n' ,'m', and 'u'.

[Emile] Lycan, it's okay to ask for help. An 'n' is only one upward curve. Like a downward looking c.

[Lycan] ...It matters..?

[Emile] Yes, Lycan. But it's okay. I will write one for you, and you can copy it.

Emile goes up to the board and writes an 'n' above Lycan's name. He then hands the marker back to Lycan, who re-writes his name correctly, yet slowly.

[Emile] Wonderful! Red would be very proud of you right now.

Slowly, Lycan's mouth curls as he stares into the board, looking simultaneously annoyed but proud of his work.

[Lycan] I... will show her...

[Emile] Not yet. You can wait until the end of the day to show her what else you can do now too! Don't you want to show her what else you can do?

Lycan stands irritated as he crosses his arms and bites his lower lip. He then walks back to his seat, now with his pencil in hand as his gray eyes seem to try and burn a hole on the whiteboard in front of him.

[Lycan] ...keep going.

End of transmission.
