Rei

A complicated soul that continually tortures herself beyond what's reasonable. Rei is consistently one of the most talked about contracts, but rarely ever in a positive way (despite her overarching success in much of her assignments). She's rude, cruel, and often times negligent to those around her. Yet despite that, her façade is cracking. I have a hunch that it won't be much longer until Rei shows her true colors.

Contract File 1

There aren't many who are willing to defend their home city. Every civilization has done terrible things for the sake of whatever goals they value, and Legunda is certainly one of those cities. After all, there's a reason they have some of the lowest approval ratings of any city (though admittedly that may partially have to do with the Ajai bandwagon effect). But Rei will always jump to defense of her city; not of Xander, of course, but everything else. From her perspective, it makes sense. All political factions there hold value, as they all want to see Legunda rise to a respected city. The people there aren't any more cruel than anywhere else either, they're simply a victim of circumstances. Nonetheless, that doesn't excuse the tyrannical nature of Legunda. Rei will still argue for them anyways, even if she has little to support her claims. She'll grasp onto anything she can, even if it's the thinnest straw you can think of. Me and Kai have learned not to argue with her either; Rei will instantly withdraw the moment you hurt her emotionally. Unfortunately, the other contracts are much less willing to excuse her faults as me and Kai are. Some will even use Legunda as a sort of weapon against her, which I'm sure causes yet more turmoil in her already tormented world view. Yet I won't blame the other contracts either. Rei will often hurt others for seemingly no reason. In many ways, it's only fair. It doesn't mean I can't pity her anyways though.

Contract File 2

Rei, all things considered, is a relatively powerful contract. She doesn't quite hold the command that some others do, but she does often outclass many of Augustia's members. Her spear is the main reason for that. It's an absurdly sturdy weapon, one that far outclasses even traditional summoned weapons (which are often more powerful than anything man made). It's sharp ends (two spikes extended out to their respective sides of the spear which curve outward than back in a sort of wave-like design and one main center spike which juts out forward) can pierce almost anything tested, and is even capable of rupturing Mercury's Ruelid armor. That said, like most spears, it is effectively useless at anything but puncturing the opponent, so its effectiveness can be put into question when the enemy is not within certain ranges. But even so, Rei is able to make defensive contracts cower, as there's little you can due to stop her spear from beating your defense.

Rei's actual Ruelid powers are flashy, but also quite powerful. Rei is able to sort of "activate" her powers, giving her access to her full attack options in its duration. During this duration, Rei has two dragon horns which extend from the top of her forehead (in much the same manner of an Oni demon in fairy tales). These horns are made an ethereal purple light that flickers and burns like a normal fire. They also only partially resemble the horns; they're not a full recreation. I am absolutely stumped on what causes this appearance. Rueliedis powers do seem to loosely be effected by the person's mental state at the time, so perhaps Rei's view of power is largely based on fantasy. Anyways, she's able to imbue her spear with this fire, causing things hit by her spear to be set ablaze in the spot she punctured or touched. This fire is very difficult to put out, and even smothering it does little to extinguish it. Prolonged smothering or extremely cold items are the only way to remove it (though the fire does burn away quickly after a few seconds, so it won't absolutely destroy the body even if untreated and it will instead just cause major damage to the area). She can also launch it out of her spear by swinging her weapon in a wide arc, but the flames that come out are thin and often quite weak. While they can cause damage, they are largely ineffective to enemies who have fire-resistant (or even thick) clothing. That said, they do cover a 160 degree arc in front of her, and they are minorly effective at forcing enemies to respect her. If anything, it can be used to quickly create terrain disadvantages or advantages for Rei or her opponent depending on how they're used. When the timer is finished, Rei will lose the horns and access to her fire arsenal, and she will often be out of breath due to the smoldering of air around her. Also of note, though not usually important, is that Rei may lose her powers prematurely if the area around her or herself are sufficiently cold (though the temperatures required for this would typically be fatal to humans in a matter of minutes anyways). Rei can activate her powers again directly after using it, but it will immediately draw from the atmosphere and cause intense pain and staggering headaches. Should also be known that Rei is completely invulnerable to all types of fire during this activation period, be it normal, Rueliedis, or her own flames.

Yet, all that said, Rei's relative lack of strength comes from her simple reluctance to train. She refuses to take lessons from any of the more skilled contracts and instead see's them as showboats or rivals instead of the rather genuine people they tend to be. Instead, she trains in secret far away from the distraction of others. The problem is, when you're one of the only spear wielders within Augustia and rather unknowledgeable about combat itself, there's little you can teach yourself. Were she to accept the help of others, she could easily rise within the ranks and become one of the strongest trump-cards to nigh unbeatable defense. Then again, accepting the help of others would fix much more than just her strength.

Contract File 3

It sure took a hell of a lot of convincing, but I can recall the time Rei did give up her spear to Frynn. Everyone was naturally curious, including Rei, on what exactly Frynn could do with a weapon like Rei's. I mean, her weapon seemingly is the strongest within Augustia's arsenal, perhaps only beaten by the tacticality of Mercury's and [Redacted]. So what could our strongest contract do with it? You should've seen the worry on Rayce's face as he was rather forcefully volunteered into the situation by the other contracts. As you may know, his weapon is some sort of mystical creation that is entirely unbreakable. But with Rei's spear and Frynn's force, what would happen? In the end, as it turns out, nothing. Rayce's sword is still unbreakable. Yet that didn't quite relieve the curiosity of Frynn or the others. What more could Rei's spear possibly do? Of course, we didn't try it on everything, as it would be rather cruel to destroy weapons that other's hold dear. But it did prove entirely effective of everyone's summoned weapon should they wield one (such as Lycan's claws, Red's pole-arm, and Fyre's chains, as well as anything we sacrificed that was built by Augustia's various engineers, though officially speaking, those items "disappeared randomly"). I was offered the opportunity to volunteer my pistols as tribute, though the result of them being broken would be rather explosive. To cut it short, however, they would've most certainly been destroyed.

In the end, we didn't actually learn much about her spear considering the fact that Rei could destroy the tested things on her own anyways. Then again, testing is testing, and just seeing Frynn spin around that spear was enough to get most hearts pumping.
